New distracted driving penalties

09 May 2016

We all know distracted driving is dangerous — one in four deaths on B.C. roads involve distracted driving. Yet many drivers still aren’t getting the message. That’s why the provincial government has announced new penalties for distracted driving.

Effective June 1, 2016, each distracted driving violation will cost drivers a $368 fine and four driver penalty points.

Please let your driver training students know about these changes and the importance of not using electronic devices while driving.

Further information about these changes can be found on RoadSafetyBC’s website.
