Ireland and Taiwan added as reciprocal jurisdictions
22 June 2015
ICBC has added two more jurisdictions — Ireland and Taiwan — that it will reciprocate (exchange) with a B.C. driver's licence without requiring further testing.
For Ireland: we'll exchange passenger vehicle and motorcycle licences. When applying, the Ireland licence must be surrendered.
For Taiwan: we'll exchange passenger vehicle licences only. When applying, the Taiwanese licence must be surrendered and be accompanied by a Verification Certificate of Driver's Licence (with a red seal stamp) and a translation of the licence from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Vancouver.
Please advise your students from these jurisdictions that:
- to apply for a B.C. licence, they must be a resident of B.C., and meet the vision and medical standards.
- if they've already started their application — their tests will be waived as long as they haven't failed a road test.
